Durban is located on the east coast of the South Africa, in the province of KwaZulu Natal. The city is benefits from year-round warm waters and set on Natal Bay making it one of South Africa’s top vacation spots. Durban is also one of Africa’s most important and busiest ports.

1. The Beaches
Durban’s “Golden Mile” is a string of beaches patrolled by life guards during the day and protected from sharks by nets. This is prime surfing territory but there’s room for body-surfers and swimmers too.
2. The Promenade
Stretches along the Durban waterfront, A promenade is home to numerous pubs, restaurants, hotels, shops and the world class uShaka Marine World aquarium.
3. Victoria Indian Street Market
There is a huge Indian population in Durban, descendents of laborers brought in during the latter 19th century by the British to work in the sugarcane fields (one of which was a young Mohandas Gandhi). With mosques and temples, the Indian street market is a bustling interesting place as well as plenty of delicious food and shops.
4. Umgeni River Bird Park
With over 3000 indigenous and exotic birds as well as 4 waterfalls, several endangered species and lush vegetation, this Umgeni River Bird Park is a wonderful place to visit.
Durban has always been a fairly crime-ridden city. You should be aware of pickpockets along the promenade and in the market areas, and be careful at night.
