6. Aberdare National Park
For its lovely waterfalls as its rare species of black leopard, rhino and bongo antelope, Aberdare National Park is as famous. The park keep green year round by the regular rains and the temperatures is cool, perfect for hiking.
Best Time To Go: May to October
Where to Stay: The Ark and Treetops are two upscale lodges in the park, there are also private and public campsites.
Getting There: From Nairobi by road which needs 3-4 hours.
7. Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
To protect black sitatunga, rhino, and the endangered Grevy’s zebra, Lewa is a private reserve set up primarily. There are over 200 species of bird and over 60 species of mammals and the park is excellently maintained. You can even enjoy your game on the back of a camel, viewing on foot, or in a traditional safari vehicle.
Best Time To Go: June – October and January – April
Where to Stay: There are several lodges on community land outside the park and in the park.

8. Nairobi National Park
As well as hosting over 400 species of bird, Nairobi National Park is one of Kenya’s most successful black rhino sanctuaries, it also enjoys its own wildebeest migration. This is all within a stone’s throw of Kenya’s bustling capital city, Nairobi. Walking trails offer visitors a chance to experience the African bush at its best.
Best Time To Go: Year-round, but migration is n July/August
Where to Stay: Anywhere in Nairobi
How to get There: It’s less than 5 miles by road from the city center.
9. Shaba, Samburu and Buffalo Springs National Reserves
Shaba, Samburu and Buffalo Springs are 3 Reserves bordering one another in the dry landscape of North Central Kenya. The wildlife congregates around the Ewaso Ngiro River which runs through the Reserves. Besides the wildlife of giraffe, elephant, zebra, leopard, blue-legged ostriches), to meet the Samburu people is a highlight of any visit. At most of the lodges, Camel safaris are on offer and if you’re in the area, just try visit the Laikipia Plateau.

Where to Stay: In each of the parks, there are several lodges.
Getting There: A full day drive or daily flights from Nairobi.
10. Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park and Reserve
Kisite is a marine reserve located in the shallow Indian Ocean coastal waters of Southern Kenya. Traditional Dhows sail you back and forth to the underwater park where you can enjoy diving or snorkeling among its colorful coral reefs. Turtles, dolphins, angelfish, manta rays and parrotfish are regularly sighted.
Best Time To Go: October – January
Where to Stay: There are several bandas and guesthouses available in the marine reserve.
Getting There: From Mombasa 1 1/2 hour drive and then you can take a Dhow.
