felucca neil

It is something you must do, taking a Felucca down the Nile when visiting Egypt. What is Felucca? Feluccas are sail boats that have been used on the Nile since antiquity. In Cairo and Alexandria, you can take short sunset sails or you can opt for longer cruises which usually depart from Aswan.

It is not quite as a luxury cruise that comfortable ship done with a Felucca, but in a quiet rig nothing can beat sailing that was designed thousands years ago. Before you hop on board, just make sure to trust your felucca’s captain, it will really make a difference to your experience. For more information see more on Egypt travel tips.

templekarnak

When you travel to Egypt, just do not to be missed the spectacular Temples of Karnak. As of the BBC History channel puts it: “Karnak is like an ancient Egyptian religion theme park, where every god and goddess of that civilization was represented over a period of about 2,000 years”.

No wonder then in ancient of Egypt, the Karnak was the most important place of worship. Measuring 1500 x 800 meters, the site is huge and is a spectacular complex of kiosks, sanctuaries, obelisks and pylons, all dedicated to the Theban gods. Then don’t miss the Hypostile Hall in the Great Temple of Amun, if you don’t have the energy to cover all that ground. There are several performances of the light and sound show a night with mixed reviews and mostly good.

For more information just see the Guide to Luxor, Karnak and Thebes.
