The Siwa Oasis is situated close to the Libyan border, in the Western Desert. This is the most remote oasis town in Egypt and the Siwans have developed their own distinct Berber culture. Siwans speak on their own language. Their crafts and jewellery are exquisite. A small airport and a decent road have certainly put the Siwa Oasis on the tourist map, but it is still off the beaten track. Known for its geographical beauty as well as its unique culture, The Siwa oasis has hot springs. In fact, to visit the Oracle of Amun, Alexander the Great had beed traveled here.
Siwa Oasis is a wonderful place to swim, eat some olives and relax. The Siwa old town dates back to the 13th century and its architecture of mud and brick looks unique and quite gnarled. For more information on how to get there, just see the Siwans web site, what to do and where to stay.
